Why I hurt
Is not unique to me
I fear I hold it in my teeth
Biting down
Ignoring the real pain
Which was never named
Perhaps we all possess that bruise
We bite our branches
Our jaws rupture
We open our mouth and it falls out
Our teeth marks, our thinned blood
Scarring and staining the bark
Each branch is our own
But all are distracting from the same thing
