Time in a Bottle

Liquid glass within solid
Clear and caustic
Sans label
But a familiar taste

The smell is overwhelming
Devoid of any absence
All flavors and odors
From bitter to sweet

It poisons and purifies
All at once
Your stomach gags
While your mouth savors

Just as your body deconstructs it
You are deconstructed
Time never spoils
But we do

Gulp after gulp
Bottle after bottle
Precious drops falling to the floor
Others painting our memories

We often forget
That we aren’t aquatic
So we drown in our own time
All the while feeling parched
